Community-based micro credit loans

Community Based Organizations

Africa

Sustainable Villages began in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania in 1988 when a village pharmacy received a pay-forward loan of $300. The pharmacy struggled at first but eventually succeeded and has spawned 200 Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in seven Sub-Saharan countries. The CBOs have created countless micro-enterprise business, and numerous collective farms, schools & clinics.

Asia

Expansion plans for the Sustainable Villages Initiative have already begun in Vietnam and Pakistan and new opportunities are presenting themselves in India and the Philippines. The application of sustainable villages changes with each local culture but the spirit of sharing is universal.

New sustainable villages participants in Guatemala, El Salvador and Brazil are ready and willing to develop CBOs and pay forward in their own social groups.
